Highways overlooking the West Philippine Sea, majestic mountain ranges and trails, urban road network with a fusion of the modern and historic past… for the thousands of motorcycle riders or the “big bike” and cyclists, the Ilocos Sur setting is a wonderful haven. On November 25, 2016 thousands of riders from the different parts of the Philippines came to the province of Ilocos Sur for the celebration of the 3rd Ilocos Sur invitational rides organized by former Congressman Ronald Singson with the cooperation of the Provincial Government headed by Governor Ryan Singson. One of the participants is Senator JV Ejercito who travelled from Manila to Ilocos Sur. “We travelled seven to eight hours to reach the province. It’s worth the travel after seeing the impressive scenes of Ilocos Sur”. Sen. Ejercito articulated. The objective of the activity is to uplift the tourism industry of the province. “Riders will serve as the advertisers. They will tell to their friends and relatives their experience in the province and share how beautiful our place is. Through this, they can invite people to experience the same”, Cong. Ronald added. Meanwhile, twenty groups of cyclists from the province joined the 3rd National Bike Day with a theme “Clean air through a bicycle friendly Philippines” held at the Plaza Burgos Vigan City on November 27 this year. The activity was spearheaded by Gov. Ryan Singson together with his Bike Label group. The primary aim of the activity is to help in keeping the air clean by using bicycle and to keep people away from vices. “Bicycling is a good exercise. It’s very beneficial to our health. This can keep us away from sickness,” Gov. Ryan said. The bikers received awards for the categories of youngest and oldest male and female biker, most uniformed group, largest contingent and the most unique bike. They also participated in the different games and raffle draws prepared by the organizers.
