Ilocos Sur tourism re-opens to Region1, Baguio City

Continuing tourism in a new normal world. Ilocos Sur Gov. Ryan Singson and the whole Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur are committed to the upliftment of the pandemic stricken tourism industry and to bringing back the livelihood of the people. Gov. Singson is determined to bring back the glory days of Ilocos Sur Tourism which is one of the most successful t in the country. The governor and his province mates pride themselves for the rich and unique heritage of its scenic landscapes from the mountains, the lowlands and the sea. The plan for re-opening started from a meeting called for by Department of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat in Baguio City early in early September. Nine days after the formal launching of the Ridge and Reef Travel Corridor in Baguio, Governor Ryan Singson together with Department of Tourism Region 1 Director Jeff Ortega pushed through with planned re-opening of tourism in Ilocos Sur. Starting October 1, 2020 Ilocos Sur will now open its doors to tourists coming from Baguio, La Union, Pangasinan and Ilocos Norte. “We need to balance the economy, health and safety of everyone amidst this pandemic. We will do it slowly but surely, through this we will be able to bring back the glory of our tourism industry. Let us continue working together, for in unity nothing is impossible”, said Governor Ryan Singson. Director Ortega stated the importance of bringing back the livelihood of people in the tourism and the whole hospitality industry.”Restarting tourism is our priority. Ryan Singson together with his fellow governors in Region 1 and the city government of Baguio. Fifty tourist per day are only allowed for a guided tour on limited tourist spots in Ilocos Sur . They should present a negative result from their latest swab test, have a pre-booked accommodation tour with accredited tour operators and travel agencies and adhere at all timesthe given itinerary health protocols. They should also visit the Sure Ilocos Sur Facebook page for the complete guidelines. “This is our best time to prove that we have the best recovery program. Guided by our health experts and the best minds from my fellow officials and counterparts in the region, I know that we will succeed “, Gov. Singson said. Among the tourist destinations open for tourists are the famous Calle Crisologo, Ilocos Sur Musical Dancing Fountain, Syquia Mansion and Baluarte Zoo in Vigan City; Ilocos Sur Adventure Zone at Caniaw Heritage and Forest Park in Bantay; Pinsal Falls and Heritage Church of Sta. Maria; Pinakbet Farm in Caoayan; Vitalis Villas in Santiago and Ichtus Beach Resort at Magsingal town. Gov. Singson and the COVID Action center which he leads will closely monitor the said re-opening. During the program of the Ridge and Reef Travel Corridor, his fellow officials showed their support like Vice Gov. Jerry Singson, SPM Gina Cordero, SPM Efren Rafanan, SPM Tante Oandasan, SPM Ronnie Rapanut, SPM Jaja Tabios, Mayor Boy Camarillo, Prov’l Administrator Cara Tabios, Tourism Officer Ryan Astom, municipal/city tourism officers, hotel owners and managers and other stakeholders from the hospitality industry, and the members of PNP. As of the moment there are three COVID-19 active cases in the province, one of the lowest in Northern Luzon. #
